Wound Care Center Recognized for Excellence in Wound Healing
Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital physicians, leaders, and clinicians gathered to celebrate the Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., Center of Excellence award, which was given to Missouri Baptist Sullivan Wound Care Center because it has met the Center of Distinction quality standards for Healogics, Inc. This Center has achieved patient satisfaction rates over 92% and a healing rate of greater than or equal to 91% in less than 30 median days, among other quality standards. The Center was awarded this prestigious honor by Healogics, Inc., the nation's largest provider of advanced wound care services. The award is named for Dr. Robert A. Warriner III, a pioneer in wound care and the former Chief Medical Officer for Healogics. Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital is the ONLY Wound Care Center in Missouri to be nationally recognized by this award for their wound care.
The Wound Care Center® is a member of the Healogics Network of over 550 centers, with access to benchmarking data and experience of treating over two million chronic wounds. Missouri Baptist Sullivan Wound Care Center offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Advanced treatments included hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.
“Once again, we congratulate our Wound Care Center for being nationally recognized for their outstanding accomplishment,” commented Tony Schwarm, MBSH President. “We are excited to partner with Healogics to offer this much needed and specialized service at our hospital ‘to make the world’s best medicine better.’”
“It’s a privilege to be part of a great collaborative effort between the hospital, physicians, and Healogics,” remarked Jerry West, Program Director. “Together, we are able to heal patients in our community, getting them get back to living happy, healthy lives.”
About the Wound Care Center and Hospital
Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital is an acute-care hospital committed to providing quality health-care services to the residents in Crawford, Franklin and Washington counties. The Hospital's physicians and staff members offer excellent medical care and take pride in their community service.
In recent years, the Hospital has improved and expanded the health-care services available to the greater Sullivan community. In the early 1990s, a new and expanded Emergency Department was added along with updated admitting, and renovated Cardiac Rehabilitation and Physical Rehabilitation departments. In 1995, a new 12,000-square-foot Medical Office Building opened, home to numerous primary care physicians, and a variety of visiting medical and surgical specialists from the St. Louis area.
The latest accomplishment is completion of the facility replacement project. On December 15, 2010, an open house and ribbon cutting was held to celebrate the completion of the final $6 million, 25,000 square-foot wing. Since 2002 the original 1962 building has been removed and replaced with a brand new facility. This represents an investment of nearly $35 million by BJC HealthCare to build the new Hospital in our community.
Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital introduced the Wound Care & Hyperbaric Oxygen Center in January 2011. The facility’s 4 treatment rooms and 2 Hyperbaric Oxygen chambers are located in the lower level of the hospital near the Specialty Clinic. This marks the second consecutive year that Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital Wound Care Center has earned national Center of Distinction recognition.
