New Physicians Joining Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital
We are pleased to announce that we have three new physicians joining the Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital provider group. Each one was very much needed to fill in for recently vacated positions in Family Practice and Hospitalist services.
Matthew Zimmerman, D.O., a Family Practice Physician, comes from Lansing MI. He received his medical education from Michigan State University, College of Osteopathic Medicine and residency at McLaren Greater Lansing. Before coming to Sullivan, Dr. Zimmerman served as their Chief Resident. He presently has memberships in the American Academy of Family Practice, Ingham Osteopathic Assoc., Michigan Assoc. of Osteopathic Family Physicians, American College of Osteopathic Family Practice and the American Osteopathic Association. We are excited that Dr. Zimmerman will be seeing patients of all ages in our Sullivan Medical Office Building. “My goal is to truly help those in my community,” remarked Dr. Zimmerman. “I am looking forward to having the chance to learn and grow with my patients.”
We also have two Hospitalists joining our hospital. Asim Ayaz, MD and Rodrigo Lopez, MD. They will cover patients and admissions during off-hours on a bi-weekly rotating schedule. This will provide our regular staff doctors a much needed break, as they have been taking call on a regular basis without a hospitalist.
Asim Ayaz, MD received his medical training at the Sind Medical College in Pakistan in 2004. Dr. Ayaz completed his residency at the University Hospital of Brooklyn, NY in Internal Medicine where he continued to work for three years. He has received awards and distinction in Community/Family Medicine, The Best Case Presenter recognition and memberships in the American Medical Association, ACCP and the American college of physicians. Dr. Ayaz is anxious to use his training and experience with patients in our community.
Rodrigo Lopez, MD received his medical degree from the Universtdad Nacional de Columbia in 2006. His residency took place at the University of Texas, San Antonio in internal medicine, and obtained a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Texas, Houston. He is currently board certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible in Infectious Diseases. His major interest is in internal medicine and working with patients in the inpatient setting. “I see my job as a great opportunity to establish an excellent patient-physician relationship, and am committed to provide the best possible inpatient care,” remarked Dr. Lopez.
We welcome these new physicians to our hospital and community. If you would like to schedule an appointment to see Dr. Zimmerman in the Sullivan Medical Office Building, you may do so by calling 573-860-6000.
