The new 6,800 square-foot department consists of six spacious private suites allowing new moms to remain in the same room from labor, delivery, recovery to discharge. Other benefits include a fully integrated, easily accessible centralized nurses' station with a triage room to assess patients in early labor and a dedicated waiting room for families.
Equipped with the latest technology, this family-focused design allows the whole family to share a positive birth experience. A tranquil atmosphere flows through hallways between maternity suites featuring muted pastels revealing delicate leaf art. Similar, eye-pleasing leaf art is imprinted on pillow cases to further enhance a home-like feeling for mothers. The unit continues the tradition of displaying newborn footprints on framed displays along the hallways.
Each suite provides parents and their families with a comfortable experience with amenities like expansive windows, sleeper sofas, rocking chairs, adjustable lighting, private bathrooms and showers decorated with colorful mosaic tiles and flat screen TVs, DVD and CD players. Designers even thought to cover medical equipment affixed to walls with artwork, which slides over it when not in use.
