Several pieces of vital medical equipment have recently been purchased by the MBSH Hospital Auxiliary. Capital budget allotments for new equipment never stretch far enough, so the help from the Hospital Auxiliary gave the departments a much needed boost.
The Obstetric units in the Medical Office Building were able to purchase a much needed GE Healthcare, Trophone EPR. This is an ultrasound transducer high-level disinfection system. It is easy to use, works fast and efficiently and is environmentally friendly. The Trophon EPR meets guidelines set by the FDA and CDC for high-level disinfection. For the MBSH Medical Office Building, this new device safely and efficiently disinfects their equipment in 7 minutes compared to the lengthy cleaning processes they previously did. The new equipment provides a much higher level of safety to their patients and allows many more exams to be scheduled.
The Trophon EPR completed the list of equipment valued well over $10,000 that the Auxiliary selected to assist in purchasing. The other items they fully or partially funded include the Holter Software and Monitor for Cardiac Rehab, a direct Laryngoscope and supplies for the Emergency Department. The Laboratory purchased a BioHit Pipettor, Med Surg/CCU received two Temporal Thermometers and the Therapy & Wellness Center acquired several Linen Hampers.
“We are extremely grateful for the financial help our Hospital Auxiliary provided to enable our hospital departments to get the new equipment that will enhance our patient care,” commented Tony Schwarm, MBSH President.
