Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital’s summer Kids-on-Track Finale took place at the Sullivan High School Fan Appreciation Day on Saturday morning, August 24. The kids participating in the summer program gathered at the high school football track to complete the last mile of the marathon.
The summer started with the kick-off on Monday, May 30 at the MBSH walking track. The half-way celebration took place on June 13 at the Sullivan City Pool and the program wrap-up was held in conjunction with the Sullivan School’s Fan Appreciation Day.
The Kids on Track program had 106 participants this year. Throughout the summer, the kids worked intermittently to complete the 26.2 mile goal, receiving prizes from area businesses along the way. The event on Saturday was to complete the final mile with family and friends cheering them on and seeing them receive their trophy for their accomplishment. The Medical Group organizers and sponsors of the event were very pleased with the participation this year and the health benefit to the kids.
“All the kids really worked hard to complete the full marathon,” remarked Natalie Counts, MBSH Community Health Educator. “It was fun to be there to celebrate with them and recognize their accomplishment. We also appreciate the support of the local businesses who contributed prizes to the kids.”
