Volunteering

The Gift That Gives Back

Volunteers and Auxiliary members at Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital find that their roles can be fun and satisfying as they meet people and become involved in community service. Each volunteer and Auxiliary member determines his or her level of involvement. There are opportunities to work at events, serve in leadership positions, work at fundraisers and participate in special projects.

What Volunteers Do

Volunteers are valuable to the hospital community, assisting patients, families and employees.  Nearly 100 student and adult volunteers offer their time, energy and special talents to many areas, including the gift shop, information desks and clinical areas.

Who Are Our Volunteers?

Seniors, students, men and women are all welcome as volunteers. Teens (14-18) may serve as student volunteers. Young adults (18 and older) serve as college career volunteers. Any time you can give is appreciated and there is flexibility in the days, hours and frequency that you can contribute.

Benefits

Most volunteers agree that the greatest gift comes from the satisfaction of serving others. Volunteers are eligible for some special benefits including:

  • Cafeteria allowance and membership to the Sullivan Sports Fitness & Rehabilitation Center
  • Invitations to some staff functions and the annual Community Wellness Event

Some volunteer expenses may be tax-deductible; check with your accountant or the Internal Revenue Service for specifics.
