Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital (MBSH) and the Cuba High School Boosters Club jointly purchased a ComboCare™ E-Stim and Ultrasound Combo Professional Device for the MBSH/Cuba High School Athletic Trainer Program. Special thanks to Dr. Terry Sellers, a chiropractor in Cuba, who donated the funds to the Cuba Boosters Club specifically for this device.
The ComboCare™ E-Stim and Ultrasound Combo Professional Device is a microprocessor-controlled, portable unit that combines clinical ultrasound therapy with five different electrotherapy treatment waveforms to treat acute and chronic injuries.
“This device provides multiple types of electrical stimulation and therapeutic ultrasound, allowing me to treat a variety of injuries,” said Emily Feddersen, ATC, one of MBSH’s certified athletic trainers, who works with student athletes at Cuba High School. “It can help with pain and inflammation management of both acute and chronic injuries in our athletes. It also can assist in relaxing muscle spasms, prevent atrophy after injury, and assist in muscle re-education when atrophy does occur (such as post-op ACL’s). When used with therapeutic exercises, the ComboCare will assist in improving patient reported outcomes!”
In 2016, Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital launched the School Partnership Program, providing access to convenient medical services and consultations on local school campuses in Sullivan and Crawford Counties, at no cost to students or faculty members. In 2017, the program’s services expanded, adding a certified athletic trainer on site at Sullivan and Cuba High Schools. Feddersen is the athletic trainer assigned to Cuba High School.
Thank you to the Cuba High School Boosters Club and Dr. Sellers for working with MBSH to make this generous gift possible.
