MBSH Imaging Department Expanding with a second CT Scanner

MBSH Imaging Department Expanding with a second CT Scanner

In the first quarter of 2023, Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital (MBSH) will be expanding its radiology department to include a new outpatient imaging area, while adding a second computed tomography (CT) scanner, which will require construction of a new suite inside the department. The department has seen an increased demand for its CT scanner – which already operates 24/7 – including lung screening, calcium scoring, stroke evaluation, and numerous other medical conditions that require CT services. The additional CT scanner will support current and future demand, ensuring that MBSH can continue to provide 24/7 emergency care if there were ever an interruption in service with the other CT scanner.

The radiology department will also require some redesign of several of the services that currently reside in the main radiology area. For example, the current ultrasound rooms, mammography, and bone density will all be moved to a new outpatient imaging suite just down the hall from the current radiology department. These rooms currently offer limited space, so the new plans will feature much larger rooms to provide a better overall patient experience. Additionally, a new bone density machine has been budgeted to replace the current system.

As with any construction/redesign, there will be some temporary inconveniences, but upon completion, MBSH’s radiology department will be able to increase the level of service we provide to the community. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
