Two MBSH staff members - Rachel Saltzman, RDN, LD, a registered dietitian, and Matteo Barausse, ATC, a certified athletic trainer - collaborated to provide nutrition education for the Sullivan High School and Middle School Cross Country athletes. They shared information on the importance of healthy eating to optimize athletic performance. It was an engaging presentation that led to productive conversations with the students.
Saltzman and Barausse's presentation is part of our School Partnership Program. In 2016, MBSH partnered with the Sullivan School District to create the School Partnership Program, providing access to convenient medical services and consultations on the school campus, at no cost to students or faculty members. In 2017, the program expanded its services by adding an athletic trainer for both the Sullivan and Crawford County School Districts.
Thanks to Rachel and Matteo for helping educate some of our local student athletes on proper nutrition and utilizing food as fuel!
